I’ve been active in the Bellingham birth community since 1999. I’ve supported the births of first time mamas, birthin’ again mamas, VBAC experiences, women experiencing back labor, epidurals, and cesarean births. I support fathers as well as mothers. I am a child
birth educator as well, and teach private birth and parent preparation classes. I’m familiar with and honor all types of birth preparation, including Hypnobirthing, Bradley, LaMaze, Birthing From Within, etc. I’ve taught and supported women in hospitals, birth centers, and homes. I love them all!
I am also a mother to two young daughters, and because of this, I only agree to take 1-2 doula clients per month. Often, women contact me well-ahead of their due date. If you are interested in doula services, please contact me sooner rather than later – I
tend to fill up!

Honoring the mother, Empowering the journey…
Hi Mary!
I am very interested in becoming a doula and was wondering if you would be willing to speak to me over the phone about your experiences. I am a mother of 2 young boys and would like to start my training now but the reason for hesitation is because I am a stay at home mom. It is hard to find the time to get away from my boys especially when I only have limited support to watch my kids when needed. Please let me know either way if you would, or would not like to speak with me over the phone about your career as a doula! Hope to hear from you soon.
Amanda Brown
Hi Amanda,
I’d be happy to talk with you about becoming a doula. It is such an honor to witness the birth of a baby, to witness women and men becoming mothers and fathers… it does absolutely require an ability for childcare/coverage for your little ones. Some doulas solve that by only being on call during times that they are covered, or having excellent back-up (doula sister), trading childcare with other doulas, etc. Yes, please email me: maryburgess555@gmail.com and we can talk more…
blessings on your path,
m.
