**New Info: The Lincoln Theatre in Mt. Vernon, WA, will show The Business of Being Born on January 24, 2008. It’s a film not to miss. I’ll be going there to see it again, and would love to have you join me there! We could meander over to the co-op afterwards for coffee and chat about the film.

On November 4, a The Pickford Cinema in Bellingham, WA showed The Business of Being Born to a nearly sold-out audience. Attending the movie were midwives, childbirth educators, doulas, mamas, and others from the community who are passionate about birth. What a fantastic event! The movie had some great scenes of natural, physiological birth, including some home movies from the main midwife in the film, that were real and raw and totally wonderful. In addition, it showed scenes from highly medically managed births, including some disturbing footage of a birthing woman, hands and feet bound to the bed, alone and drugged. This movie stirred up so much excellent conversation, and I don’t know which I enjoyed more, the movie itself or the conversation afterwards.Thank you all for coming out to this wonderful show!
