I am whole-heartedly celebrating so many wonderful babies and new parents this summer… last week, four couples from my previous class welcomed their little ones, and I was wonderfully immersed in three gorgeous, empowering, celebratory Birth experiences. It filled my soul, nourished my doula heart. Welcome, little ones!
July at Life Song Cottage brings my summer Birthing In Awareness class to a close, and my current MamaTime circle to a close, and I will be missing all the amazing and wonderful people I have been honored to be with over the past 6 weeks…I’ll miss you and look forward to more time together in the future!
August is quiet here at the cottage… a month of rest and family time… so if you’re signing up for future class offerings, please be patient with me – I am hoping to look at the computer only occasionally! :0) But I am accepting sign-ups for the Fall Birthing In Awareness class now (see details below). I will also be offering a “Birthing Again” class this fall, and an Empowered Birth After Cesarean class… so sign up early to reserve your space.

My name is Mary Burgess, and I am a perinatal mentor, childbirth educator, birth doula, mother of two, wife, and owner of Life Song Perinatal Services, LLC. I am a true “birthkeeper,” in that I am passionate about birth and the powerful opportunities for growth and empowerment a woman has when she births a baby. Birth is an extra-ordinary rite of passage, mysterious and dynamic, sacred and beautiful. I hold that space, and trust birth, so that mama and baby can be born. I whole-heartedly support pregnant and parenting women.
I offer private 6-week childbirth preparation classes, Birthin’ Again Refresher Classes, VBAC preparation classes, doula services, private birth consultation, and birth healing circles, plus have some very special 1-day workshops. Birthin’ Again – Refresher Class: For parents who have had a baby before, or who are interested in a short or refresher class. Together, let’s re-remember your inner strengths for the journey ahead. We’ll discuss labor and birth, when to go to the birth center, comfort measures your partner can do to support this journey, fear releasing, and connection with your baby and each other. Spend a few hours in a beautiful garden cottage, thinking about this birth, this baby, this journey. Please come with yourselves, an open heart, and a sense of curiosity about how THIS birth can be a life-empowering event. Late night tea and snacks provided. I recommend that you purchase Birthing From Within book by England/Horowitz for at-home reading and further practice. Fee: $75/couple.

MamaTime! Personal Renewal Group for Mothers
- New Mamas (babies under one year of age), as they unfold into motherhood. This group meets once per week for 6 weeks.
- Full-bloom Mamas (babies over 1 year of age). This circle meets once per month for 6 months.

I am a childbirth educator, Birthing From Within® Mentor (www.birthingfromwithin.com), and Birth Doula (DONA), and an RTA-trained Personal Renewal Group (PRG) Facilitator. In addition, I am a member of the International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN). My birth classes are a mixture of logical information (anatomy and physiology, stages of labor, etc) blended beautifully with the Birthing From Within intuitive/creative expression (pain coping practice, birth art, journaling, deep self reflection and inner discovery). I feel this blend is a great preparation for not only Birth, but parenting as well.

What a beautiful blog site!! I was just wondering if you offered healing and renewal from parenting teenagers? I’m ready for a one day workshop.
Emma came to my class today. I enjoyed having her so much. She is such an incredible spirit. She seems to be walking more and more into her own strength.
