My name is Mary Burgess, and I am a perinatal mentor, childbirth educator, birth doula, mother of two, wife, and owner of Life Song Perinatal Services, LLC, which as of April 1, is open in its new location at 2430 Cornwall Avenue, in the lower level of the Bellingham Birth Center, and called the Life Song Perinatal Wellness Center. Here, I am joining with two massage therapists and other educators in order to offer care to pregnant/birthing/postpartum/breastfeeding mothers and parents. In the new space, I’ll be offering so much more care for the postpartum mother, including Swaddling the New Mother.

I am a true “birthkeeper,” in that I am passionate about birth and the powerful opportunities for growth and empowerment a woman has when she births a baby. Committed to planting the seeds of growth a father experiences when his baby is born, when he is born a father. Birth is an extra-ordinary rite of passage, mysterious and dynamic, sacred and beautiful. I hold that space, and trust birth, so that mama, dad and baby can be born. I whole-heartedly support pregnant and parenting women and parents.
I offer private 6-week childbirth preparation classes, Birthin’ Again Refresher Classes, VBAC preparation classes, doula services, private birth consultation, and birth healing circles, plus have some very special 1-day workshops. I am also very excited to be offering Swaddling the New Mother, Breastfeeding Cafe, and MamaBabyMoonTime Postpartum Circles. I have heard wonderful things about you from one of your clients who is also one of my harp students.
It would be so lovely to meet you and invite you to strum the strings of one of the lap harps. It would be so very special to sit at a birth, strumming babies into the world.
I spent many years as a midwife to the dying with my harp. This may be another special calling for you.
